Truro Details New Ballot Colors, Poll Pads Ahead of State Primary

TRURO — Truro election officials are rolling out new ballot colors, updated party rules, early voting options and faster poll-pad check-ins ahead of the September 1 state primary, the town's biggest procedural update of the week.

TOWN HALL

The town's News Flash points residents to details on the new ballot colors and party rules for the September 1 state primary, along with early voting opportunities and poll pads meant to speed up check-in lines at the polls.

Separately, families have until August 31 at 4 p.m. to apply for Truro's Childcare Voucher Program, which funds a full year of assistance for approved applicants. A second application window will open only in February 2027, and only if funding remains.

The town is also inviting input on its Open Space and Recreation Plan, which will set Truro's conservation and recreation priorities for the next decade. Residents can weigh in at a virtual forum on September 16, by emailing pio@truro-ma.gov, or through the town's dedicated planning webpage.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Truro Public Library has opened "Garden Art," a community show in the Anne H. Brock Room. The library's "Plant a Seed, Read" initiative, made possible by the Friends of the Truro Library, continues as well.

Author Susan Choi visits the library Tuesday, August 18, for a talk as part of the library's ongoing events lineup.

COMING UP

The Zoning Board of Appeals meets Monday, August 17, followed by the Select Board on Tuesday, August 18. Also Tuesday, the library hosts its Children's Community Garden Group and a Mahjong session, which returns Thursday, August 20.

Wednesday, August 19, brings a full slate: the library's "Share the Shore with Seals" program and "Food for Kids" distribution, plus a Planning Board meeting at 5 p.m. where the board is soliciting resident ideas for new zoning bylaws.
