Barnstable County Commissioners to Meet in Truro on Water, Wildfire Plans

The Barnstable County Commissioners will hold their next off-site meeting in Truro this week, bringing water supply, wildfire planning and water testing before county officials as the town continues to navigate a tense regional water dispute with Provincetown.

The Barnstable County Commissioners will meet Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. at the Truro Public Library, according to a Town Hall announcement. The agenda covers water supply, wildfire planning and water testing, three topics with direct bearing on Truro's ongoing negotiations with its neighbor to the north.

The county session follows the Truro Select Board's Aug. 11 letter to the Provincetown Select Board addressing regional water correspondence, a story the town's News Flash also covered earlier this month. Wednesday's meeting gives county officials a firsthand look at the water issues at the center of that exchange.

COMING UP

The Select Board holds an executive session followed by a hybrid regular meeting Tuesday, Aug. 25. In-person early voting for the Sept. 1 State Primary is also available that day.

At the library, Tuesday, Aug. 25 brings a Mahjong session and the Children's Community Garden Group, alongside a "Women, Piracy and the Rise of Feminism" lecture. Wednesday, Aug. 26 adds a Stay Strong Cancer Support Group meeting and a Sing-Along/Play-Time session with Paul Kehoe, the same day the county commissioners convene at the library.
